Cookie & Tracking Policy

What are Cookies and Local Storage?

  • Cookies are compact text files stored on your browser or device by websites you visit. In addition to HTTP cookies, modern web applications like NearCart use HTML5 Web Storage (Local Storage and Session Storage) to store user preferences and session data locally on your device.
  • These technologies enable our web application to recognize your browser, remember your shopping cart between visits, and maintain your secure login state without repeatedly asking for OTP authentication.

Categories of Storage Technologies We Use

  • We categorize storage technologies into three operational classes:
  • a) Strictly Necessary / Essential Storage
    • Shopping Cart Persistence: Remembers items you add to your cart so you do not lose your selections when navigating between categories or reloading the page.
    • Authentication Session: Securely holds your encrypted session token once you authenticate via mobile phone OTP.
    • Selected Delivery Location: Remembers your selected delivery address and pincode to verify nearby store serviceability.
  • b) Functional Preferences
    • Remembers UI display modes, expanded category tree states, and notification sound preferences.
  • c) Diagnostic & Performance Analytics
    • Collects aggregated, non-personally identifiable metrics on page load times, checkout funnel drop-offs, and app responsiveness to diagnose technical errors.
  • No Third-Party Ad Trackers: NearCart does not deploy intrusive third-party cross-site advertising cookies that track you across unrelated websites for programmatic behavioral advertising.

How You Can Manage or Clear Storage

  • Most modern web browsers allow you to manage cookie and local storage preferences through their settings:
    • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Third-party cookies & Site Data.
    • Apple Safari: Settings > Safari > Advanced > Block All Cookies.
    • Mozilla Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
    • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
  • Please note: If you disable or clear essential local storage, your shopping cart will reset and you will be logged out of your NearCart account.

Questions & Privacy Contact

  • If you have questions regarding our use of cookies or browser storage technologies, please email us at To be published or review our comprehensive Privacy Policy.
